| Obituary* | 23 Jun 2008 | Marion "Buddy" A. Hooper 87, died Wednesday June 18, 2008 at Embracing Hospice House, Cumming, GA. Buddy was born February 28, 1921 in Nashville, TN, son of the late Marion Exum Hooper and Minnie Irwin Hooper. He was a veteran of WWII serving with General Patton's Third Army. He continued serving his country in the Army Reserve until 1952 obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Prior to moving to Cumming, Buddy lived in Jacksonville, FL and previously in Nashville, TN. Survivors include his wife Bettye Kirby Hooper, Cumming; daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Dick Gormly, Cumming; brother Paul Hooper, Boca Raton, FL; sister Dorothy Johnson, Enfield, CT; three grandchildren Leigh Culpepper (Elaine) Alpharetta, GA; Scott Gormly (Lauren), Dallas, GA and Reid Gormly, Hollywood, CA; three great grandchildren Nathan Neville, Ashlynne and Jenna Culpepper, Alpharetta; and "granddog Andy". He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Suzanne Hooper Culpepper; grandson Lane Culpepper; brothers, Frank and Maynard Hooper. A family service will be held at the Gormly/Hooper home on June 30th, with interment at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
