Received wire "Report to Carbondaale" . 9/1930-33 , Carbondale Ill hired him State Highway Dept. . . 1933-35 worked for private contractors doing construction, some w/ WPA Works Progress Admin. including a job in Creal Springs Ill. Met Juanita there. He lived in a rooming house with severa other workers. Rooming house was run by Mrs. Georgia Hancock (Juanita's mom) . 12/1933 -12/23/1940 Civil Works Admin . 12/23/40 Assistant Civil Engineer $2600 per year Soil Conservation Service, Carbondale, Ill residence was 425 Murphy Street, Murphysboro Ill. . 9/20/1943 Family moved to Lawrenceville Ill . 1/26/1947 Family moved to Mt. Vernon Ill . 6/1953 Family moved to Columbia, MO . Grades 1-3 in a 2-room country school Spring Hill, LA Grades 4-5 Weston School, Jonesboro LA (school burned) 6th grade Bermuda Hill LA Grade 7-12 Weston School, Jonesboro LA, Jackson Parish, (in the new school bld) 1924 High School Graduation, Weston School, (same year as sibling Eunice. In those days siblings would often take year(s) off school to help support the family while the other sibling(s) attended school. W.S. C. graduated H.S. at age 20 and is believed to have done this.
