Birth*say 1754 Daniel was born at Norfolk Co., Virginia, say 1754.
He was the son of Henry Culpepper IV of Currituck Co. NC and Christian Warren
1790 Census*2 Aug 1790 Daniel was listed as the head of a family on the 1790 Census on 2 Aug 1790 at Camden Co., North Carolina.1
1810 Census*6 Aug 1810 Daniel was listed as the head of a family on the 1810 Census at Saint Bride's Parish, Norfolk Co., Virginia. Enumerated in census but otherwise not identified is 1 M0-10, 1 M16-26, 1 F0-10, 2 F10-16, 1 F16-26 and 1 F26-45..2
Research note*25 May 2004 This may have been Daniel Jr., son of Daniel Culpepper who died in 1775 in Norfolk, but proof is lacking. There was a Daniel Culpepper in 1790 Camden District, SC, who was possibly the son of Henry Culpepper and Christian Warren, and this could also be that Daniel.

The fact that this Daniel who died in 1811 was a cooper suggests that he was the the son of Daniel Sr. and grandson of Robert Culpepper Jr., who was also a cooper. Trades tended to be passed on from one generation to the next in a given family.

However, the fact that this Daniel was passing along cooper's tools apparently inherited from Daniel McCoy, suggests a connection to Camden or Currituck Co. NC, where the McCoy and Culpepper families were intertwined in early records:

Currituck Co. NC Book 7, p. 92: 2 Aug 1794
Aaron Brite, executor of Richard Etheridge of Camden Co., to Peter Culpepper, for £72, 50 acres adjacent to Daniel McCoy and Daniel McPherson. Witnesses: Daniel McPherson and Jesse Etheridge.

Suggest looking for a will or estate of Daniel McCoy in Camden Co. NC or Norfolk Co. VA.
