He was then sent to Vicksburg, MS, to be exchanged on Aug. 25, 1862. He was severely wounded on Jul. 23, 1864 and sent to the hospital. He was captured a second time at Nashville, TN on Dec. 16, 1864, and sent to a military prison in Louisville, KY on Dec 21. In May 1865 he was sent to New Orleans for exchange.).
