One of which became a full Major in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp. Which was quite an accomplishment for an African American woman back in those days! "Dave Culpepper worked on his farm until he was 93 years old. In 1962 he was walking a calf to the barn and the calf knocked him over which broke his hip.
