Biography* Obituary:
     Leona F. Culpepper, for many years a resident of Tacoma, died 30 Aug 1997 at her home in Ocean Park, Washington. Leona Florence Jones was born in Seattle on 1 Mar 1923, to Homer and Agnes (Erickson) Jones. She attended Seattle Public Schools, the University of Washington, and was a graduate of Providence Hospital School of Nursing. On 5 Jun 1947 Leona married Alfred K. Culpepper. Leona served for many years as a registered nurse. She was employed at the Cushman Indian Hospital, the Veteran's Administration Hospital at American Lake, and for over 20 years at Doctor's Hospital in Tacoma. One of her proudest achievements there was her involvement with the creation of the Doctor's Hospital Employees Credit Union, of which she served as president. She was an excellent nurse, dedicated to the care of her patients.
     Leona was predeceased by her husband Alfred, and her daughter, Corky Merrill. She is survived by grandsons Martin and Andy Merrill; her son Ron Culpepper and his wife Wendy Firth, their children Kristina and Stephen; her son Gerald (Michele) Culpepper; her son Michael (Donna) Culpepper and their children Ashley and Alfred; and her son Robin (Tammy) Culpepper and Robin's sons Brian and Kyle.
     A memorial service will be held Thursday, 4 Sep 1997, 3 p.m., at the Mountain View Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W.1
