Biography* Arkansas Gazette: PLEAS CULPEPPER DEAD -- Had Been Prominent in Politics of Jefferson County for Years -- Special to the Gazette. Pine Bluff, Dec. 8 - Justice of the Peace Pleas Culpepper of this city died last night. Judge Culpepper has been in ill health for some time and during the past summer made a trip to the gulf in a vain effort to regain his health. Judge Culpepper died at the family residence, 1011 Mulberry, and the remains were taken this morning to his old home at Kedron. Judge Culpepper had been closely identified with Jefferson county politics. He held the position of deputy sheriff during the administration of Mayor McCay. He was recently appointed justice of the peace by Gov. Davis and was later elected to the same position. He was 34 years old and leaves a wife and one child.
