| Biography* | Obituary: Garland Richard Culpepper, 71, of the first block of Lynn Drive, died 12 Feb 1998. He was owner and operator of Culpepper Radiator Service established in 1947. A native of Portsmouth, he was a member of Churchland Baptist Church, Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge No. 273, Ambassador Club, Khedive Temple, Royal Order of the Jesters, Big Train Operators of Tidewater, an avid collector and restorer of antique automobiles and a Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Culpepper; three sons, Richard A. Culpepper, David S. Culpepper, both of Chesapeake, Philip Culpepper of Chapel Hill, N.C; a brother, Robert E. Culpepper Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, N.C; five grandchildren, Cliff, Alice, Courtney, Alexander and Adam; and a great-grandson, Andrew Polson. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Churchland Baptist Church by Dr. R. Clint Hopkins, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, N.C. 29605, or Churchland Baptist Church Building Fund, 3031 Churchland Blvd., Chesapeake, Va. 23321.2 |
