Tulia - Waymon Featherston, 85, died Thursday, March 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Church of Christ, with the Rev. Trey Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Featherston was born in Everton, Ark. He attended and taught schools in Western Grove, Ark. He moved to Springfield, Mo., in 1931 and graduated from Braums Business College in 1933. He moved to Amarillo in 1934 and worked for International Harvester Implement Co. as district manager until 1942. During World War II, he served in the Army. He moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1946 and operated Auto Finance Co., then moved to Tulia in 1948 where he was an independent International Harvester dealer and a real estate broker for 20 years. He was a member of the Tulia Lions Club and a member of Central Church of Christ. He also was past president of the Tulia school board.
     Mr. Featherston married Verna Culpepper in 1941 at Hereford. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Featherston of Dallas; a sister, Lois Cook of Harrison, Ark; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Featherston and Charles Featherston, and a sister, Dale Eiberg. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch or High Plains Children's Home..3
