Biography* Virginia was listed as Virginia, Viana, and Vianna L. in census records. She appears to have been born in 1847, just after her father's death in 1846.

According to Joseph Richard Culpepper's notes, James and Martha had a daughter "Vinie" who was supposed to have married a "Culvis." No record has been found of the name "Culvis" in Georgia or Alabama. It is possible that a reference was made to the "Culvers" or to "Culverhouse" and this was heard as "Culvis." A suggestion that "Culvis" was E. V. Culver was researched in an existing family history and did not prove out.

It would appear, from the 1880 census, that Virginia had two illegitimate children, Lucy and Catherine, ten years apart. They were both listed as "mulatto."
