(It is also not known whether the father of any of her children carried the name of Culpepper. Note that her son, John, is designated as Mulatto while her other children were identified as Black. It is possible that her mother or mother-in-law is one of the two older women living in her household in 1870: Rosetta Culpepper (age 48, black, born in VA) and Eliza White (age 50, black, born in VA).
