Ref: The Heritage of Currituck Co. 1670-1985, Dempsey Ballance, submitted by April Snyder Wall, p 136 & 137. The article states that Dempsey's parents lived in Moyock until about 1863 when they moved to Northwest where Dempsey was born. Dempsey's father died when he was very young. He came back to Moyock and lived with his sister, Kizziah (Kesiah) Ballance Garrett. He remained in Curituck Co. for the rest of his life. . (6) Daniel Ballance b. 1869, Northwest, Norfolk Co., Va. .
