Georgia Vol. Inf. of the Army of Northern Virginia (The Jefferson Guards of Jefferson Co. GA). He entered service on June 14, 1861 and served for the duration, getting out after Lee surrendered at Appomattox, Va. Apr. 9, 1865. He was an Infantry Private and was wounded (date and place not given). The 20th Regmt. was involved in 24 battles (some major) including 2nd Bull Run (Manassas), Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Chickamauga, Seiges of Chattanooga & Knoxville, The Wilderness etc. etc.2 |
