Obituary*25 May 1895 HOUGH - John Bloomer Hough was born December 12, 1842. He did valiant service in the War between the North and South as a Confederate Soldier. He was married twice. He first married Miss Margaret A. McDougal on the fourteenth day of December 1871 by whom two daughters were born. Their names were Mattie & Nancy; the latter survives her father. His second marriage took place March 27, 1887 to Miss Jane Holladay. He united with the Baptist Church and was Baptized by Elder C.L. Eiland in August of 1887. Brother Hough remained in the fellowship of Bethel Baptist Church until the day of his death. He was a Mason also a member of good standing of the Farmer's Alliance. He was elected Crenshaw County Commissioner August 1892 by a large majority vote. He died March 11, 1895 and was buried at the Bethel burying place.3
