Birth*circa 1900 She was born circa 1900 at Arkansas. Kathleen was the granddaughter of Thomas Hayes and Ellen Holmes. Thomas was a minister, teacher, the first president of the Arkansas Teachers Association and served as a state senator for several terms. He also served in the Civil War. Ellen was a teacher as well and very active in the community. Family tradition suggests that she is related to Oliver Wendell Holmes.2
