Ramah Francis Culpepper Alexander celebrated her 90th birthday at the home of her grandson, Gregg Alexander and wife Lisa in Friendswood, Texas, surrounded by many friends and family members. She was born in Bastrop Co., Texas in May 1914 to Joel Rudolphus and Dora Francis Tally Culpepper. She is the Granddaughter of Amos Allison and Elizabeth Dail Culpepper. Ramah is the descendent of early Texas Pioneers, the Sorrel's, Tally's and Culpepper's. Her paternal Grandfather, Amos Allison Culpeppper, was a Primitive Baptist Preacher who traveled by horse and buggy to visit the different churches where he preached. He was an ordained Elder in the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church at McMahan, Texas. Ramah was married in 1932 to Walter Leston Alexander of Dale, Texas, until his death 52 years later. To this union three sons were born, Walter Herbert, Joe Kenneth and Don Lafayette Alexander. She has nine grandchildren (one deceased), and 19 great grandchildren at this time. This summer she will be the happy great-grandmother of 20.5

Obituary*3 Feb 2005 Ramah Frances Alexander, 90, of Friendswood, Texas passed away Jan. 26. She was born May 23, 1914 in Bateman, Texas to Joe Culpepper and Dora Tally Culpepper.
     Ramah's grandfather, A.A. Culpepper, was one of the founding elders of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in McMahan, Texas. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
     Ramah and Leston moved to Pearland in 1943. Ramah was a wonderful seamstress, wonderful jelly maker and Cub Scout leader. Ramah was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leston Alexander in 1984; grandson, Christopher Chosley in 1981; mother, Dora Culpepper, father, Joe Culpepper; sister, Jewel Roberts; brother, Billy Joe Culpepper; and son, Don Alexander.
     She is survived by sons, Walter H. Alexander and wife, Phyllis of Pearland, Texas and Joe K. Alexander and wife, Aleta of Friendswood, Texas; brother, Hilton Culpepper (Bo) of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
     The visitation was be held Thursday, Jan. 27 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Jeter Memorial Funeral in Friendswood, Texas. A visitation was held Friday, Jan. 28 from 6 - 8 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan Street, Lockhart, Texas.
     The funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home. Burial followed at Bunton Cemetery in Dale, Texas.
     Local arrangements were made under the direction of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home.1
