Obituary*28 Apr 2007 Hilton "Pep" Culpepper passed away Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the age of 85.

One of six children born to Joel & Dora Culpepper, he grew up on the family farm near Red Rock, Texas. He graduated from Lockhart High School and later attended Southwest Texas State University.

Pep was an Army Air Corps glider mechanic during WWII, stationed in Europe, where he met his British wife-to-be, Emily "Pat" Glass. They married in England in 1945 and resided in Austin the remainder of their lives.

Pep retired from the University of Texas, working most of his career at the Balcones Research Laboratory facility as a refrigeration/air conditioning mechanic.

He was active in the Studebaker Club as well as the Treasure of the Hills Senior Center. He also served on the Board of Trustees for many years for the Old Red Rock Cemetery, and is credited for his work in acquiring the cemetery's designation as a Texas Historical Landmark.

Pep enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe and several times and making numerous road trips throughout the United States.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Emily "Pat" Culpepper. He is survived by son, David Culpepper and wife Dana, daughter Marsha Meier and husband J.B., granddaughters Alison Meier and Marisa Meier.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 28, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 29 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, with burial to follow at the Old Red Rock Cemetery in Red Rock, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Old Red Rock Cemetery Association, 6843 State Park Road, Lockhart, TX 78644 or to the Alzheimer's Association.6
