Biography* On 6 Aug 2003, Barbara Culpeper Mallet of Australia wrote: "From my scanty history, I do believe that the British first arrived to India in the mid 1750's. There were some indian uprisings, and the French were there. There was trouble in Calcutta and a whole bunch of people were thrown into prison. It was later named the 'Black Hole of Calcutta' as about 200 went in and only 20 emerged alive. [Charles] Culpeper must have gone out there to help quell the uprisings."1
