| Obituary* | 14 Dec 2007 | Lawson E. Jolly, 100, of Clarkston, GA and Pensacola, FL passed away December 10, 2007 in Pensacola. Mr. Jolly was born in Clarkston and was in the first graduating class of Clarkston High School. He was the third generation to own and operate Jolly's Store in Clarkston. He retired in 1972 from Aetna Casualty as chief underwriter and resided in Clearwater, FL until returning to Clarkston in 1983. He was a deacon and active member of Clarkston Baptist Church. He was a member of Clarkston Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War II, having recently received the Cross of Military Service. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Thelma McCurdy Jolly. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Lawson E. Jr. and Judith Jolly, Pensacola, FL and daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Joseph Jr. and Jan (Jolly) McAlhany, Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Philip and Jennifer (Jolly) Rothschild, Lawson III and Jill Jolly, David and Carrie Jolly, Peter and Gina (McAlhany) Thomason, Joseph McAlhany, III and Jason McAlhany; five great grandchildren, Clayton and Connor Rothschild, Justin and Juliet Jolly, Peter Thomason; a sister, Mrs. Lucile Smithy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Melwood Cemetery, Saturday, December 15th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1000 Chemstrand Road, Cantonment, FL 32533 A. S. Turner & Sons.2 |
