Marriage*4 Feb 1915 He married Bertha S. Culpepper at Covington Co., Mississippi, on 4 Feb 1915. Bertha was only thirteen when she married. She was an orphan, lived with a relative, and her father had deeded her 160 acres before he disappeared from the county.

Bertha is found in 1920 living next door to Hamilton Cooper Rutland, Mary's father, and in 1930 her youngest son is named Matthew. I am thinking that she named a son after her father, after the death of H. C..3,2,1
