1830 Census1 Jun 1830 Sherman was probably a free white male, age 5 and under 10, in Murry Sims's household, on the 1830 Census at Oglethorpe Co., Georgia.2 
Marriage*say 1845 He married Amanda Jane Donnohoo say 1845. Ancestor Richard Bennett Simms, III, wrote Warren Culpepper on 10 Jan 2010:
"The home they (Sherman and Amanda) acquired from Abraham Atkins in 1860 (built in 1855) is the birthplace of my great grandfather and namesake (Richard Bennett Sims). Sherman named 2 sons (Richard B and Sherman B) for his uncle Bennett, whom I understand wrote an unpublished math text. Our family stories have it that Louisa Nance Bullock benefited from a Revolutionary war commission land grant from her grandfather, and that was the farm in Maysville. Also, I have learned that her children who were orphaned when the father dies and she re-married, won a lot (lot 99, district 5 , Wilkinson Co 1805 lottery) yet the census reports no Sims in subsequent years. Maybe a swap??".3 
Civil War*between 1861 and 1863 He served in the War Between the States between 1861 and 1863.3 
Death*1863 He died in 1863. From typhoid after returning from the war.3 
Burial*1863 He was buried in 1863 at Sunrise, Maysville, Jackson Co., Georgia.3
