| Biography* | | Charles T. Culpepper was a Baptist preacher throughout central and south Alabama. Minnie, of course for those times, took care of the house. My mother told of how angry she would get as he sat on the porch singing hymns as Minnie carried buckets of water for household use. I never met him and have little memory of her and therefore will not judge the relationship they had. We called them Grandmother and Grandfather Culpepper and it is sad that we never knew the people they were. I hope I remember that in relating to my grandchildren. As you may have noticed, we Culpeppers tend to resemble one another. I stopped in Notasulga several years ago at the house I last remembered my Aunt Minnie living in and knocked on the door. No one was home but a door opened across the street and woman walked my way saying "I don't know who you are but I know we're related! You're a Culpepper." She turned out to be a cousin I had never met. [from Justin (Jeanne Culpepper) Christie]. |
