Mr. Culpepper is survived by one brother, John Simpson Culpepper; a niece Marguerite Carbrey, her husband, Lee, and their daughters Caitlin, Kristen, and Caroline of Slidell, LA; one nephew, Dan Culpepper, his wife DeeAnn, and their children, Danielle and Dylan of Beaumont, TX; his cousins, Dick Culpepper and wife Daphne of Monroe, LA; Lewis, Brittan, and Hannah Hussing of Austin, TX; and many Simpson relatives. Left to mourn are his friends and advocates, Carolyn (Mrs. Louis Paul) Dalfiume and Peggy (Mrs. John) Culpepper, as well as his rescue dog, Grits.

'Clyde' Culpepper graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1941. He held the Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Louisiana State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He also received the Master of Science degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Clyde returned to his home in Monroe, taking a position as a chemistry, physics, and general science teacher at Neville High School. He is remembered as a Master Teacher by his many students, numbers of whom took degrees in the sciences and earned their livelihoods through the influence of 'Mr. C'. He was loved by his students for his clarity, wisdom, wit, and wry humor. He was a great faculty favorite. Culpepper was appointed Assistant Principal at Neville, but later left education for the business field. He was a project and design engineer at Ford, Bacon, and Davis until his retirement. Mr. Culpepper was a Renaissance man, with wide ranging knowledge and interests in music, art, the sciences, the culinary arts, and literature. He was a talented wood carver. His works adorn the homes of his family and friends. He was a world traveler and lived abroad for brief periods of time. Clyde Culpepper was an eternal optimist and bon vivant, facing his death with the same courage and spirit with which he had lived his life, setting an example for all whose lives he graced.

A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3706 Bon Aire Drive, on Saturday, November 11, at 11:00AM. The Reverend Errol Montgomery will preside. A special invitation is extended to Mr. Culpepper's former students.3
