He was the son of Robert Culpepper of Warren Co., GA and Jane (?)

Guardian1 Jan 1838 Sarah Ann Culpepper and William Walker Culpepper declared as orphan(s) at Robert Culpepper of Warren Co., GA's death and on 1 Jan 1838 at Columbia Co., Georgia, (John W. Maddock is appointed guardian of Sarah Ann Culpepper and William W. Culpepper, minors and orphan children of Robert Culpepper. $1,250 bond posted by John W. Maddock, Isaiah W. Maddock and Robert M. Gunby.).5

Probate*7 Nov 1864 William's will was probated at Columbia Co., Georgia, on 7 Nov 1864.10
Research note Robert Culpepper apparently died before 1830 as his wife Jane appears as family head in the 1830 census, and his orphans were winners in the 1832 Georgia Gold Lottery. Since the 1840 and 1850 censuses show children in Jane's household who were born after 1830 (Mary Ann, Julia Ann, and David P.), it is not clear who their parents are. It is possible that Jane was the mother and the father was someone to whom she was not married. Or, these may be orphan children from another Culpepper family. Since the 1850 census does not state relationships, other records are needed to solve this mystery.
