Biography* Obituary
Nathaniel Culpepper Sr., 82, of Hunter Street, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Warrenton, with the Revs. Lamar Davenport and L.V. Thurman officiating. Burial will be at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Mr. Culpepper, a native of Warren County, was a 1935 graduate of Warrenton Colored Schools and attended Haines Institute in Augusta. He was honored as the Georgia small businessman of the year in 1976. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Nancy K. Culpepper; a son Nathaniel Culpepper Jr., Thompson; a daughter, Anna Mary (Culpepper) Cowins, Florida; a brother, Joseph Culpepper, Detroit; four sisters, Eurada (Culpepper) Boyd, Inkster, Mich., Virginia (Culpepper) McLendon and Marie (Culpepper) Headd, both of Detroit, and Rosyln (Culpepper) Park, Warrenton; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, c/o Mrs. Elizabeth Turner, P.O. Box 35, Thompson, GA 30824. The family will receive friends after the burial in the Masonic Hall. Thompson Funeral System is in charge of arrangements.4
