| Biography* | Obituary EASTLAND -- W.D. "Scooter" Culpepper, 56, son of L.B. and Winona (Greenwood) Culpepper, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Eastland Hospital. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bakker Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Bakker Funeral Home. Scooter was born on October 17, 1947 in Ranger. He grew up in Olden and attended Eastland schools. He graduated Eastland High School in 1966 and attended Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, graduating in 1970. Scooter worked at Arrington Funeral Home for ten years starting in 1964. In 1974 he went to work for Bakker Funeral Home, which he has managed for the past 20 years. Scooter met and married the love of his life, Judy Karene Robertson, on April 6, 1990 in Eastland. Scooter was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church. He was a member of the Pope & Young Club, former president of the Eastland Rotary Club, life member of the NRA, as well as an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member and served on the board of directors of the Eastland Rifle & Pistol Club, past president of the Little Girls Softball, and coached Little League teams. He had been an active member of the Eastland Chamber of Commerce, serving for 15 years as co-chairman of the Annual Eastland Parade and member of the Red Coats. Scooter's favorite pastime was his grandchildren. He was a proud "Granddad" of ten grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; four sons, Shem and wife Renee Culpepper of Midland, Billy Jack Hallmark and wife Becca, James Hallmark and wife Kristi and Joseph Hallmark, all of Eastland; two daughters, Kedron and husband Scott Brown of Abilene and Nicole and husband Toby Sparkman of Eastland; one brother, Tommy and wife Terri Culpepper of Stephenville; ten beloved grandchildren; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.2 |
