Biography* Obituary:
     Tommy Pleas Culpepper, 73, of Highlands, passed away Monday June 19, 2006 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital (Alexander Campus) in Baytown. He was born November 25, 1932, to Jefferson Davis and Mattie Mae (Fikes) Culpepper, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Tommy was a resident of Highlands most of his life, earning the coveted title of Eagle Scout in his late teens. In the early 1950's, Tommy had the distinct pleasure of delivering his own draft notice and served his country as a member of the United States Army. He retired from the United States Post Office with 22 years of service. Tommy continued working for many years and made many friends along the way. He enjoyed family, friends, and gardening and was an avid sports fan. Tommy was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and a treasured friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
     Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Davis and Mattie Mae (Fikes) Culpepper and step-father, Claude V. Riggs. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Grace Culpepper; brother Jeff Culpepper and wife Joan, sister Faye Cone and husband Leon; son Chris Culpepper and wife Donja, son Tony Culpepper and wife Cindy, step-son Kent Morgan and wife Wendy, daughter Julie Robertson and husband Kenny, and daughter Jana Reid; grandchildren Misty, Angela, Ryan, Justin, Chelsea, Lauren, and Will; great-grandchildren Kylee and Branden; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
     Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Kenny Robertson, Dan Trant, Robert Bradford, Ken Elliott, Selby Goss, and Buzz Niehart. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond James, James Cast, Jeff Culpepper, and Leon Cone. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 21, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands. Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Sterling-White Funeral Home , with Jerry Lions officiating. Interment to follow at White Cemetery.
