DNA* He has been proven by DNA and genealogical research to be a descendant of Drury Culpepper of Henry Co., AL, who is a great- grandson of Joseph Culpepper and 3-great-grandson of Henry Culpepper of Lower Norfolk, VA.

 He was the son of Joseph Marion Culpepper and Sarah Caroline Ward

Marriage*circa 1874 He married Silvia Savannah Bland at Georgia circa 1874.4 
1880 Census*1 Jun 1880 David was listed as a brother-in-law in John F. Bland's household on the 1880 Census at Simpson Co., Mississippi.5 
1900 Census*1 Jun 1900 David was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census at Upshur Co., Texas.4 
Death*1902 He died at Upshur Co., Texas, in 1902.6 
Burial*1902 His body was interred in 1902 at Old East Mountain Cemetery, Upshur Co., Texas.6 
Biography* David and Savannah may have come to Texas in 1881 with Savannah's brother, Jasper Bland. It is certain that they were in Upshur County in 1891 because in December of that year they purchased a 100 acre tract of land in the Stamps Community from Savannah's brother, Harrison B. Bland. david and Savannah sold the 100 acre farm in Jul 1899 to their son, Andrew H. Culpepper. In 1900 there were living in the East Mountain Community of Upshur County. Andrew Culpepper sold the 100 acre farm that he had purchased from his parents to his future brother-in-law, Walter E. Jones, in January 1900. At the time of the conveyance A. H. Culpepper was listed as a resident of Franklin Co, TX.
