Biography* Frank enlisted in Grimes Battalion, Portsmouth Light Artillery, 20 April 1861 in Portsmouth, as a Private. At the time of enlistment he was a clerk, with dark hair and grey eyes, fair complexion, 5 ft. 8 inches tall.

He was discharged 15 August 1861 due to a shoulder injury, caused by a caisson rolling over him on the drill field. He re-inlisted 1 Apr 1862 at Hoffler's Creek, Nansemond County, VA, as a Sergeant.

And in October 1862, he was transferred to the Norfolk Light Artillery. He was absent (sick) during the transfer until June 1863. He was listed as AWOL on 12 September 1863. On 30 Jan 1865 he was listed as detached or detained to service as a machinist at C. S. Naval Ordnance Works in Richmond, VA.

After the War, Frank was a salesman. On 18 Feb 1892, he applied to the Stonewall Camp of United Confederate Veterans in Portsmouth, VA. He was a Mason.
