DNA* From DNA and genealogical evidence we conclude that Steve C. Culpepper is a descendant of Stephen Josephius Culpepper who is thought to be a son of Lemuel Culpepper of Jasper Co., GA. DNA suggests Lemuel descends (father unknown) from Benjamin Culpepper of Edgecombe Co., NC. 
Birth*12 Apr 1916 Steve was born at Columbia, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, on 12 Apr 1916.2 
 He was the son of John Allen Culpepper and Mattie Montez Hebert.

(Steve was an instructor pilot at Tuskegee, AL where the black aviators were trained. He was discharged as a Captain.).1
