Biography* From Jim Crofford, Jan 1999: Of note, both Uncle J.P. (as we knew him growing up) and his son Jimmy were both excellent athletes and coaches. Uncle J.P. had the task in his first football game (the first played by a Rison, AR football team) of being matched up against Bear Bryant. Jimmy was drafted to play baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals but opted to go into college coaching where he was an athletic director for Georgia Tech in the 70's and Worchester Polytechnic Institute in Worchester, MA in the 80's.
