I have a letter that she wrote to her sister Maggie (Margaret Govan Fauntleroy) stating 'We feel that we are surely blessed in health tho the affliction of being deaf is awful – impairs your usefulness so much'
     "I also have a letter that her niece, Susan Govan Rice wrote to her family when Jenny died. Susan Govan Rice was my grandfather George Baynham Rice’s sister. As you know she was raised by Jennie and Dr. Culpepper."1
