| Biography* | | In June 2006, Vondell Guthrie wrote: "Hattie Estelle Singleton, daughter of Thomas and Julia, was born July, 1898. She is listed as a 1 year old child on the 1900 census of Josie, Pike County, Alabama with her parents. In 1910 she is listed as age 13. Hattie married Curtis 'Curt' Culpepper on February 2, 1917 in Pike County, Alabama. The marriage is recorded in Book 10, page 78. Curtis was 18 years older than Hattie and had been previously married to Florence Ingram, born 2/19/1885 - died 9/15/1915. Hattie died only a few months after she and Curt married. Her death was on September 5, 1917 and is recorded in Volume 13, Roll 1, page 195. She is buried at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Josie, Alabama."2 |
