For Stede of Harrietsham, with whom the Wigsell Culpepers several times intermarried in consequence of this alliance of Francis, see the pedigree returned at the Visitation of Kent, 1619 (Harl. Soc. Pub., xlii, 71) and Berry's continuation in his Kent. One of these Stedes, whose mother was a Culpeper, served in America as Governor of Barbados. Joan Pordage was buried in Hollingbourne, April 7, 1598, as Joane Culpeper, vidua' and left a will (See Culpepper Connections Archives), which combines genealogical material of the Stedes and Culpepers. - Fairfax Harrison
