Biography* He commanded his own ship in Raleigh's Guiana expedition of 1618 and in consequence of the losses then incurred was obliged to sell Leeds Castle. See post. Of his thirteen children recorded in the Stemmata St. Leodigaria, the three youngest are of special interest to Virginia, viz: Ursula, Katherine, and Mary.
