Majorie Layne
Female, #9422, (1887 - 1973)
| Birth* | 1887 | Majorie was born in 1887.1 |
| | She was the daughter of Francis Ambrose Layne and Jessie Vinton Culpeper of Barbados. |
| Death* | 1973 | She died at England in 1973.1 |
| Biography* | | Majorie Layne and her sister Evelyn Layne moved to England and reportedly were living at Wakehurst, Worthing, Sussex, England in 1970. Wakehurst Place was the old Culpeper family home. However, this seems highly unlikely to have been the home of Majorie and Evelyn as the estate was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1963. (See: http://www.rbgkew.org.uk/ksheets/mansion.html) Perhaps they were living in the area of Wakehurst Place. In any event, in the Richard Culpeper GEDCOM is a note that Majorie and Evelynnnn gave the book "Wakehurst Place, Sussex" by Gerald W.E. Loder (Spottiswoode and Co, Ltd, London, 1907) to Greeba Marguerive Anciaux on their visit back to Barbados in 1970, while they were living at "Wakehurst, Worthing, Sussex, England". In 1998, the address of this historic facility was "Wakehurst Place, Ardingly, West Sussex, England." |
