Note* The Johnson Davis family is also described in the book, "Historical Sketches of Clarke Co.", published by the Clarke Co. Historical Society. Handwritten notes by Stella Davis Clarke, daughter of William Davis, son of Johnson Davis, say that the two wives of Johnson Davis were sisters of Earnest Culpepper's father. The first wife was said by Mrs. Clarke to be Martha Culpepper, and their children: Charley, Robert, Dawson (who died in Civil War), Mary, and Ann. The second wife was said to be Mary, sister of the first wife, and their children were Alden, William E., Enoch, Ada, Abel, and Ethelbert.
